So, about two weeks ago I met my favorite person on the internet. I ran across Joy’s baking blog almost three years ago when I was pregnant with the twins and at the height of new domestic bliss. (Newly married + newly pregnant= you want to bake). Joy is young and fun, a Californian who lives in New Orleans, and I have to say, a truly nice person. And she creates delicious recipes for us to bake and share.
When I heard she would be signing copies of her new book, Overeasy, on the day it came out at Rizzoli Books in NYC, I knew I had to be there!
I have to admit, I almost didn’t make it. It had been a long day with my kiddos and I had milk-spit-up-boogers-on my sweat pants and in my hair, it seemed like a huge effort to make the trek into Manhattan and/or take a shower. However, I told my husband about it a few weeks ago and maybe he saw the crazy glint in my eye that says I must congregate with other humans over the age of three because he said: you wanted to go and you are going.
Rizzoli Books is a BEAUTIFUL bookstore. If you get the chance to visit while in the city, do it! Don’t forget to look up because the ceiling is breathtaking. I walked in and almost fell over because there was JOY making cocktails for us! The night was super fun- it was a chat between Deb of Smitten Kitchen and Joy about food blogger life. They talked about recipe testing and each talked a bit about how they started out. They were so funny together that it was like a comedy show. Especially when Joy told about the time someone e-mailed her to say they were leaving her blog and she responded: “Don’t let the door hit you where the good Lord split you.” The audience was rolling with laughter- and surprise- you wouldn’t believe that would come from sweet Joy the Baker!
All in all, it was a perfect night. (Oh, a very humid night, as can be seen from my wet looking hair, nope not wet, just humidity, ugh.) Special Bonus? When I met her to sign my book she was just. so. friendly. and her personal photographer took our picture! He’s the one who took all the egg photos for her book. Woo-woo!
I highly recommend the cookbook- a brunch cookbook. I have already made a few of the recipes (cornbread savory waffles!) and there is great stuff happening in there!
Today’s post about food and recipes is linked up to Jenn at Peasandcrayons.com where all sorts of healthy food fanatics get together to show off what they’ve been cooking and eating for What I Ate Wednesday. On that particular day that I MET JOY THE BAKER, here’s what we ate:
Breakfast:
Face Food- it’s our new thing. They say hi to the plate and it is too funny.
Followed by a green shake for a snack! Spinach, banana and cucumber with coconut water.
This most perfect lentil salad when I went into the city. It had a dill dressing- and it was to die for.
I left the children with Dad for dinner, so I am assuming they ate the turkey meatballs with shredded zucchini and sweet potatoes that I made for them, right? I’ll never know.

Let’s chat- who is your favorite “internet person”? Leave a comment or subscribe to new posts so you don’t miss anything!
And something else cool… Google finally knows about my little blog! It takes a while for any website to be “known” by google. You have to be looked for by people and get traffic to your website and FINALLY after eight months you can google partyoffiveblog and get here!! Wow!

I have to comment on the last thing you said FIRST! That’s super, super exciting about Google and your blog! I didn’t know that that’s why some blogs don’t show up in google. I’m glad your site is growing and you hit this milestone! My favorite internet person is Shay from MixandMatchMama.com. I just think she’s adorable and such a good role model.
