Is anyone else completely confused about how we’re already in August? I am still trying to figure out how we got here!
The twins are now two and a half and baby Lily (yes, I will call her that forever) is one and a half. They are doing things that are hilarious, interesting, loving, and also… frustrating on a daily basis. It is so amazing to see them interact and take care of each other. So- just what have we been up to?
BEACH DAYS
People are always surprised to know that we live very close to the beach. (New York?? The beach? Yes, – and it’s awesome!) This year we’ve been taking full advantage. It is a major effort to get our three out there, but the sun, sand, and ocean are totally worth it. We’ve been going to our favorite, Point Lookout, every chance we get. The sea is nice and calm and I’m pretty sure I’m not imagining it, but there’s been a few days this year where the water looks blue. Natalia loves it so much, in fact, that her new thing is making snow angels in the sand. Believe me, we will probably never find a solution to our mini-van/sand situation.
Our FOUR Year Wedding Anniversary
This is important because: WE FINALLY HAVE MORE YEARS MARRIED THAN CHILDREN. That’s our favorite joke. Anyways, it’s funny to us. And speaking of “us” we were able to spend a fabulous anniversary date night on the town! Thank you family for babysitting!!
Remember my Summer Bucket List? Well, we crossed off two big ones on our anniversary.
We went on a very cool hike near our house. If you are local, make sure you know about Levy Park. We spent about two hours exploring on our day.
Then, for dinner we went to Vinoco East (I saw a write-up in the paper about this place a while ago and had been wanting to go). It did not disappoint. A few things. This is a tapas restaurant, but we were starving and ate everything like it was a full dinner. If you go, don’t miss the tiny grilled steaks, ceviche with the catch of the day, and their “rolls” with various fillings. They were so sweet and knew it was our anniversary, so they brought us a huge dessert plate of banana, chocolate and Reese’s Pieces empanadas, plus prosecco. So, so yummy. Thank you, Vinoco East, we had such a great evening!
Kids Being Kids
Other than that, we have had long days full of all the stuff of summer. Popsicles and catching fireflies. Trips to the park. Art projects in the backyard. Outdoor dinners with friends and family. Our homemade water slide.
We’ve been potty training. Yes, with twins this is as crazy as it sounds.
Our dear friend and Lily’s Godfather, Jose, visited us all the way from Costa Rica and we spent a fabulous day in Manhattan with him!
We had a visit from Grandpa from Texas and he spoiled us rotten.
We squeezed in a family trip to St. Petersburg, Florida-and it was so much fun!
We visited some of our favorite places like The Long Island Children’s Museum and Kiddie Playland.
We’re having a great summer and preparing for a few more weeks of warm weather before our thoughts turn to apple picking and pumpkins. Make sure to subscribe below, so you don’t miss any posts and keep checking back to see what we’re up to at The Party of Five Blog!
